Why Do Some Kids Have Tape Over One Of Their Eye Glasses Lens
Amblyopia/Strabismus: I agree with dr. Block that some kids have one "lazy" eye that needs to be made to work by occluding the "good" eye with tape, a patch, or drops. Vision therapy (VT) may or may not work to improve visual function, but prolonged attempts at VT may delay needed surgery if the eyes become misaligned. Any such patient needs to be seen by a pediatric ophthalmologist before therapy decisions are made. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
When someone only has one eye, do they cry twice as many tears from their one eye? Or do tears come out of their empty space?
Do wearing of glasses to correct astigmatism at the age of 3yrs also helps to stimulate the eye development(getting cornea round) faster in kids ?
Glasses don't change: Wearing glasses refocuses the eyes do that the brains gets a clear image. This helps prevent amblyopia (lazy eye) in children. Wearing glasses does not affect the growth of the eye and won't increase or decrease the changes in shape of the eye over time. The biggest reason to wear glasses is to ensure normal vision development (prevent amblyopia). ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers
I've tried three different types of contacts and none of them have given me perfect vision. I have astigmatisms in both eyes (1.25). Should I try tori?
Use progressive lenses and monovision contacts . When I cover one eye objects appear larger in one eye than the other. Why is that?
Accidental telescope: The eye with the more minus contact lens sees the larger image because a minus lens acts as an eyepiece in a Galilean telescope, while the progressive bifocals act as the objective lens. This is of theoretical, but little practical value clinically. Either switch to bifocal contact lenses or correct both eyes for distance with the lenses and use over-the counter readers. Aniseikonia fixed. ...Read more
I'm thinking of getting sclera lenses but do they actually help your vision like regular contacts or are they just for show?
Do all toric contacts correct both astigmatism and myopia? Some of them say they are for astigmatism and don't mention nearsightedness.
Which laser eye surgery correct both my nearsightedness and astigmatism? Do either of the popular types of laser eye surgery, lasik or prk, fix these issues so that i'll have 20/20 vision or close to it? I can't wear contacts; i've worn glasses since i wa
I'm nearsighted but I want to improve my vision.I have glasses but to see from far.Do glasses help vision over time or at all since its only for far?
Glasses &contacts are uncomfortable. Is it ok for my eyes to remove glasses at end of day. Things are a bit blurry but not horrible.
To improve vision: Eyeglasses are worn to help see better and in a few cases for cosmetic effects. It is true that myopia is increasing - investigations are under way to try to determine the cause. In this techno age, fine eyesight discrimination is more important and so people turn to eyeglasses for that help so they are seen more commonly. ...Read more
Why would one eye be blurred up close but the other eye blurred at a distance. My latest pair of glasses doesn't help this at all.
I've gotten three eye exams over the past year, all with different prescriptions written. I'm just not happy with the quality of vision. Help?
Yes: Some people have unstable refractive errors and can experience changing prescriptions throughout their lives. Many things influence your refraction including the length of your eye, the shape of the cornea and lens, degeneration of the cornea and or lens, and changes in body chemistry especially blood sugar. The refraction can change in many ways throughout life. ...Read more
I'm dressing up for holloween and i want to put on those eye lenses that make my eyes look scary, are they harmful?
Be cautious: You can order these from an ophthalmologist who will make sure they fit safely and properly. If you are an experienced wearer you can usually make this determination by yourself. Properly fit they are not harmful for short term wear. They are not approved, however, by the fda. ...Read more
