Why Do People Poop Their Pants When Scared
Severity determines: Occasional incontinence of stool with fecal leakage is common, but loss of bowel control particularly without warning may signal a significant infection, inflammatory problem, maldigestive concern, or neurologic disorder. Sometimes, particularly in youths, the condition is behavioral. Often, anal manometry followed by biofeedback can be curative without the need of surgery or medication. ...Read more
Depends : It's hard to discuss without knowing what "special needs" means. If he is a teenager that really should be able to control his bowel movements, it could be encopresis. Essentially it happens when a child is so constipated, that the stool leaks around the impaction. If that what it is, treatment is aimed at managing the constipation. I often refer to the gastroenterologist. ...Read more

IBS: Ibs is divided into 2 types — constipation-type and diarrhea-type. Sounds like you may have the diarrhea-type. With diarrhea type esp, tenesmus (or the feeling you need to urgently go even if your rectum is empty) may occur. In these situations, it may result in stool incontinence (i.e., soiling). If this is an uncontrolled, I recommend seeing a gastroenterologist as other issues may be going on. ...Read more
What do you advise if I was just sitting and eating and out of nowhere I feel myself pooping my pants?
Why does my butt sweat? It feels like I'm going to poop my pants. I hate going out in public now. It start about 4 months ago.
Sweating: Sometimes excessive sweating around the buttocks, rectal or anal area is due to the type of clothing and the tightness of the clothing you're wearing. If there is also excessive sweating in other parts of your body, get tested for an overactive thyroid. Prolonged sitting May also promote the sweating in the seat of your pants. ...Read more
My 9 year old son still poops his pants -- why? He poops his pants almost on a daily basis. Sometimes it is from not wiping good enough and I have showed him the correct way to wipe.
However, I believe most of the time is because he is just too lazy to
Your : Your child probably has fecal retention syndrome. He is essesntially holding his poop. The best treament for this is a laxative called miralax (polyethylene glycol). He should take about 1/2 to 1 capful per day for up to six to nine months. It is important for him and his poop to part as friends for a long time. The reason his stool is in his underwear is not that he is not wiping well is that he is having breakthrough or fecal soiling from the liquid poop going around the hard, large stool in his colon. If the symptoms continue you should see your local doctor. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
2 yr old refuses to poop. Recently potty trained, won't poop in potty, his pants, nothing. Holds it so long it hurts when he does go. What do I do?
Toilet training: Oops, your toddler appears stressed-out! The best thing to do is to leave him alone at this point — no negative comments, reprimands despite pant soiling, coercion, urgings nor discussions about his pooping. Shower him with praises, reassurances and positive reinforcements and/or give rewards if/when he defecates in the toilet. Continue to provide increased fiber and fluid intake. Live like usual. ...Read more

Almost 4 yo poops in potty but pees in pants. He was just on amox for ear infx so I don't think it's uti. He does ok at school. Could it be kidneys?
Potty training: It's highly doubtful the kidneys. Even on Amoxil (amoxicillin) for ear infections, if it was a UTI (which I don't think it is-rare for boys but still possible), it can be resistant to the Amoxil (amoxicillin). Usually its behavioral in this age, where they are too preoccupied with playing then going to the bathroom. ...Read more
My 4yo boy will not tell me when he has to pee. If I don't take him hourly he will go in his pants. He will tell me when he has to poop though. Worry?
Don't worry: If he has normal BM's, then I wouldn't worry too much. He may have a small capacity bladder and if he is playing, he may not be able to hold it when he becomes aware of it. If his urine is very dilute and looks like water, cutting back a little on his fluids may help. If he doesn't improve with praise, check bladder volume and urine stream. If BMs are infrequent, he may be a "holder." ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
4 year old won't pee or poop in potty tried everything. He goes in his pants right after no matter how long he sits on potty. How do I get him trained?
Copycat: An easy way is to try to have your kid use the potty in presence of another kid doing the same — if another kid a little older (or the same age) could be used as a "volunteer". Your pediatrician may have more ideas, and by the way check for fecal impaction, etc. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
