Why do my knees turn purplish reddish and hurt me?

Why do my knees turn purplish reddish and hurt me?

Likely Hemarthrosis: These symptoms may be those of a hematoma (bruising) or a hemarthrosis, bleeding into a joint. By far the most common cause is trauma but could also be a coagulopathy, or decreased ability to form a clot. If there is very little to no trauma or the bruising is severe/painful you should have your doctor check your knees and most likely run some blood test for clotting or sign's or arthritis. ...Read more

Knees: More than likely you knelt on something that caused small bruises on your knees. If you have this no other place on your body and have no other symptoms I would not worry about it. If it starts spreading then you should get it checked. ...Read more

I have cellulitis on my knee. It is now the 6th day, 4 of which i have been on bactrin, and it is now a purplish red color and hard. Is that normal?

Not necessarily.: It sounds as if it's getting progressively worse. If after 48-72 hours after initiating antibiotic treatment and it's not improving, I would go back to your doctor. The bacteria causing the infection may not be respoding. ...Read more

My knee is swollen, inflamed, painful, and turning a reddish purple. What could be wrong? Am i still healing from surgery i had 4 months ago?

Hard to say: I would first advise you go back and see your surgeon as can't give much advice without knowing type of surgery you had. At four months to still have a lot of swelling and discoloration and pain generally speaking would be a bit worrisome. ...Read more

This : This is quite challenging without a clinical examination. I would recommend you see a dermatologist for diagnosis and treatment options. Could be many conditions, including folliculitis, eczema (with secondary infection), psoriasis, lichen planus, a drug rash, or other possibilities. Read more about rashes and other possibilities at the link below. I hope that helps a little. ...Read more

What : What you are describing sound like large telangectasias or spider veins, or may be true varicosities - it is hard to tell without looking at them. These are in a common location and can be due to reflux in the great saphenous vein or reflux from a perforating vein. In any case, you should probably have a full evaluation from a vascular surgeon or licensed phlebologist before having them treated. If they are a symptom of a larger problem (like the afore-mentioned reflux) they are unlikely to go away with pulsed light or even injection until the causitive problem is treated. In general, injection is probably more effective than pulsed light for larger veins. ...Read more

Probably not: I agree with drs. Hansen and d. Ipl might work for very fine spider veins but if your veins are bulging, you are liekly to be disappointed with the results you get from ipl. I would recommend seeing a vein specialist (phlebologist) who can evaluate your legs to make sure that there is no undersying vein trouble. If there isn't, then smaller veins can probably best be treated with sclerotherapy. ...Read more
