If you want a simple check, buy any of the over-the-counter "computer" or "carpal tunnel" braces to wear at night. I prefer to straighten the stay (metal part that makes the splint rigid) to a neutral wrist position, with the fingers in line with the forearm, rather than tipping the wrist back where the thumb is in line with the forearm. The straighter splint takes the most pressure off the nerve. If it relieves your symptoms, it's more likely that you have carpal tunnel syndrome. Depending on your age, general health, location of symptoms within the hand, and any motor or sensory loss, there may be other conditions and treatments to consider.
