Why Do My Fingers Turn Blue
Raynaud's: Raynaud's sometimes is called a disease, syndrome, or phenomenon. The disorder is marked by brief episodes of vasospasm (va-so-spazm), which is a narrowing of the blood vessels. Vasospasm of the arteries reduces blood flow to the fingers and toes. In people who have raynaud's, the disorder usually affects the fingers. In about 40 percent of people who have raynaud's, it affects the toes.
Blue: This is not enough info to give comment. Consult physician. This can be result of sympathetic nervous system that controlls many body functions. Are u a smoker? Do they act differently to cold or head, there is reynauds phenomenon, scleroderma, and other problems. Provide physician with details on how why where what and when. No matter, consult professional help.
Why do my fingers occasionally turn black and blue? Every so often a place in my fingers will feel a tightness, and soon after looks black and blue. Sometimes it can be a small area, other times my entire finger looks like I smashed it in the door. Ther
This: This sounds like a problem with your arterial circulation. If these events are associated with cold temperatures, you may have raynaud's syndrome. In raynaud's, the small arteries in the hands and feet are hypersensitive to cold and go into spasm. The treatment is to keep the extremities warm. On the other hand, it's possible that you may be experiencing some blood clots in the small vessels. If this involves just one hand, it may be that you have an abnormality in the artery upstream that is "throwing" clots. If that's the case, the problem area should be fixed with an angioplasty or bypass, and you may need to take blood thinners. The argument against what I've described is that the discolored areas caused by blocked arteries are usually painful.See 1 more doctor answer
My fingers turn blue sometimes and I don't know why like they turn like a blueish green what is it?
Raynaud: Phenomenon or syndrome and a few other disorders your internist or rheumatologist may determine to be the cause. Depending on your specific presentation, vacular compromise is the less likely reason which a vascular surgeon may readily diagnose. Mention this to your doctor or pediatrici.
Reynaud's Syndrome: Is and can cause blue fingers. If it is cold, or you smoke it can make it much worse. It has varying levels of severity from mild to digit threatening. It is a result of spasm of the blood vessels supplying blood to the fingers.
Poor circulation: Pick one of these choices: 1. Reynaud's phenomenon (blood vessel spasm in the fingers and/ or toes). 2. Congestive heart failure. 3. Severe anemia. 5. Low blood oxygenation due to respiratory problems (including smoking). 6. You dipped your hands in to your child's paint box.See 1 more doctor answer
Need 2 know more.: Your query has me curious, but I need more information. Is the blue discoloration coming and going or is it constant? Is there any red or white discoloration added in at times? Any pain in the fingers? Any similar discoloration in the toes, top of the ears or tip of the nose? We'd need more info to make an educated guess as to what's going on, but I am concerned.
My fingers go blue and white and I loose grip of things and just lately they are iching. What is the cause of this?
Loosing grip: Swelling in the wrist can put pressure on nerves and blood vessels in the hand. Pressure on nerves causes a weak grip. Pressure on arteries causes a white color in the skin. A color is from pressure on veins. Also, read about Raynaud's phenomenon.
I woke up with my finger black and blue and I didn't injure it in any way. What could be causing this? I'm not having any pain.
Immediate MD: 56 year old lady with dizziness, vertigo, painless blue digit. You need immediate full history and medical exam, you may have arrhythmia causing your dizziness and throwing emboli to your finger. At the very least, dangerous causes need to be ruled out ASAP. There are less dangerous causes as well such as vasospasm, Raynaud's phenomenon. See MD as soon as possible please. Good luck.
? Raynauds: If this happens only while you are swimming two things come to mind. Raynauds syndrome occurs when arteries to your hands spasm and contract often due to cold exposure. Thoracic outlet syndrome can cause temporary blockage of veins or arteries in the neck area with certain arm positions. If this keeps up or occurs at other times, get it checked out.

Sometimes the skin on my fingers turn a blue-ish green color, and it lasts for up to two days or a little less. What is it?
Need more info: Interesting problem. May be due to transfer of color from a book or magazine or other object. I think at your age the next time this coloration appears see your primary care physician.
I smashed my finger in the car door a week ago, it then turned very blue (almost black)on the tip and front of my finger. Why has the swelling not down?
Blood circulation: There may be a problem with blood circulation to that finger. It could be a problem such as a blood clot blocking a blood vessel, or it could be due to spasms of the vessel. There is a condition called Raynaud's syndrome which can cause painful red and blue fingers but it usually affects all the fingers. In any case, you should have this evaluated to ensure there is nothing serious going on.See 2 more doctor answers
