Artificial Tears: Most likely you are sleeping with your eyes slightly open. I would suggest a viscous artificial tear (which you can get over the counter) prior to going to bed. See how that works. ...Read more

Not likely allergy: While allergy to a component of alcohol can happen, it is exceedingly rare. Food allergies also cause very specific symptoms in an immediate manner. You likely are experiencing effects of dehydration and "hangover.". ...Read more

Workup: You're young for temporal arteritis but it's a consideration even at your age if the spots are really tender. A full history and physical exam, including a refraction (until i was given the glasses i needed, i had bad daily headaches) is in order. Good luck. ...Read more

Not likely.: This does not fit the typical presentation of a brain tumor. That would be headache, vision change, or even more likely, a gait disturbance. It still might be one, but highly unlikely. More likely, is something like a nerve compression, or seizure, or some other illness. You really should see a neurologist for a full work-up urgently as this can still be serious and result in permanent damage. ...Read more

Eye slightly open: Your eye may not close all the way when sleeping, so it dries out. You could try putting in an over-the-counter gel drop or gel in your your eye bedtime to coat your eye all night so you don't have pain in the morning. ...Read more

Allergies?: Swollen eyelids can be due to allergies. Have you changed soaps, lotions, room sprays or candles, detergents or fabric softeners? Is the swelling in both eyes or just one? Try an antihistamine, like diphenhyrdramine or Naphcon-A allergy eye drops, to see if the swelling goes away. If so, stop the new product. If not, it might be infection and you need to get seen soon. ...Read more
