Many possibilities: How long has this has been going on and is there a history of an infection or allergies? However, a clogged ear, if not related to wax could be something in the middle ear like a hole in the ear drum, fluid in the middle ear or other middle ear lesions/masses. May be TMD symptom: Assuming that you don't now have a cold or allergy flare ups ruled out. Eustachian tube (et) goes from throat to middle ear to equalize pressure on either side of ear drums. Plugged ears are common symptoms of temporo mandibular dysfunction (tmd). Trigeminal nerve controls the jaw muscles as well as the tiny muscle- tensor veli palatini - that opens eustachian tube. You: You may be dealing with an ear infection (otitis media), a sinus infection, or even cerumen impaction (wax stuck in your ears). I think the problem: Is in your throat or nose, not in your ear. Sounds like the eustachian tube is blocked by swelling caused by infection or allergy. See an ENT specialist if otc antihistamines and nasal sprays don't help. Read more
My ears seem to be clogged with wax when I wake up in the morning. When I go to be my ears are fine, when I wake up in the morning my ears are clogged with wax; they don't hurt as I wake up, I am not sure but this might be related to eating jalapenos, but
Wax: Wax would not clear on its own and get bad agin in the morning. It may be that your eustachian tubes that clear the pressure in your ears are getting swollen at night. This can ge due to higher venous pressure from lying down or maybe an allergy to something in your bedroom. Try sleeping with your head elevated. Try an over the counter allergy medicine, as long as you do not have a llergy to them. Loud music can cause the feeling of ear plugging and also ringing in the ears. This can also resolve 24-48 hours afterwards, but can later add up to a permanant hearing loss. Read more
