See doctor: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without taking additional history, physical examination and may be some tests. It would be prudent to see your doctor as your symptoms warrant an evaluation. Wish you good health.

Hemorrhoids: Nice description of hemorrhoid bleeding. Keep a good balance of fiber (5-6 servings of fruit / vege a day) and hydration (enough liquid to have clear urine 4-5 times a day - not what you get with beer or coffee) and he should have durable relief. Otc hemorrhoid rx may help. If not, or if the bleeding or pain worsens he may have a higher grade of hemorrhoid or fissure and shoul see a doc.

Rare but possible: At 25 it would be very unusual to develop colorectal cancer and almost always would be related to an inherited family predisposition like having 2 or more first degree family members with colorectal cancer, ovarian or endometrial cancer or someone with a lot of polyps. At your age these symptoms are usually not cancer but you absolutely see your doctor for a check up

Rectal bleeding, heavy bright red blood in stool and lower back pain. What should I do?

You need: To see a GI doctor or colorectal surgeon, sooner rather than later before it becomes a life threatening emergency! This does not seem like something you should wait on for a few days to "see if it gets better". If necessary go to the nearest emergency room! Take this situation very seriously.

Rectal bleeding, heavy bright red blood in stool and lower back pain. What should I do?

Emergency room visit: It is advisable to go to the emergency room if you feel you are having such large amounts of bright red blood per rectum, especially with associated symptoms - this could indicate a serious problem or it may just be a bleeding hemorrhoid - regardless, you should have a physician evaluate you sooner rather than later, especially if you develop low blood pressure and/or light headedness.

You are young: It is hard to imagine what could be bleeding in your colon, at your age and not seen by colonoscopy. The only thing I could think of is av malformation since they can't be seen once decompressed from bleeding. You have to discuss it further with your doctor and your gastroenterologist as to what it could be. Good luck.

I'm having heavy (red) rectal bleeding w/abdomial pain and an odor. Feel the need to go, but nothing but blood comes out. What could it be?

See a doctor: Many possibilities. Constipation & straining at the toilet can result in bleeding from hemorrhoids. Colon cancers can bleed, stomach ulcers can bleed. As the amount of bleeding is concerning then you need to see your doctor or go to an er soon.

Yes: Regardless of sexual preference or behavior, rectal bleeding should always be evaluated by a doctor. A gastroenterologist is the specialist who can best evaluate rectal bleeding.

I had sex (vaginal) with a man who has erectile curvature (downward) and since, I have been experiencing rectal bleeding. Help?

?: It is unlikely that your rectum was injured significantly if you had regular activities. The vaginal wall is pretty thick/strong and not easily perforated with so-called normal activity. However if this persist I suggest seeing a doctor for an exam to find out the reason why.

Can I continue taking benzodiazepines? I have had rectal bleeding starting one year ago 3 times. I was taking 1 mg Xanax every 5 hours at the time and I may have had 5 or 6 beers the night before, the next day at work after living heavy furniture I exper

Benzos have nothing: To do with rectal bleeding. You need evaluation - may be something as simple as hemorrhoids or rectal fissure, or may be polyps or colitis (or cancer). Alcohol and xanax, (alprazolam) however, do not mix. Using alcohol together with benzodiazepines constitutes abuse, and is potentially very dangerous. Your doctor needs to know about your drinking, which at 5-6 beers is not at safe levels, and consider alt. Rx.

Blood in stool rectal bleeding and alternating constipation and loose stool. Is it cancer?

Blood in stool: Suspicious but your age is in your favor unless a strong family history of colon or breast cancer. Likely another cause. I would see your PCP.

When colon cancer reach a level that causes anemia blood in stool became visible or stool became dark or rectal bleeding has started am I right?

Not necessarily: Slow bleeding from colon cancer can lead to anemia, without visible blood or black tarry stools. More often than not, anemia is the presenting symptom, especially for right sided colon cancers.

Bleeding in rectal, exam shows blood in stool & hemorrhoids, have loose stool, rare for solids. Can I use miralax (polyethylene glycol) safely to help loosen impacted stool?

Bleeding in rectal, exam shows blood in stool & hemorrhoids, have loose stool, rare for solids. Can I use miralax (polyethylene glycol) safely to help loosen impacted stool?

Yes you can: Use a dose (17 gm packets) daily, but also recommend you start taking supplemental fiber (like metamucil or equivalent) along with. This will help you be more regular naturally. Once you feel you have "cleaned out" somewhat - stop the MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol) but continue the fiber on a daily basis. Also try warm soaks on your hemorrhoids, and topical creams with steroid (hc) may help, too.
