Does Effexor (venlafaxine) cause severe cause severe night sweats? Used to wake up soaked and dripping with sweat.
Could be: Unfortunately not uncommon for effexor (venlafaxine) and other norepinephrine increasing antidepressants (eg cymbalta, less so Wellbutrin) to increase anxiety despite good compliance. Which means increased heart rate, shakes, sweats, headaches and other fight or flight symptoms. A trial of a regular ssri ( prozac, lexapro, zoloft, or celexa) can be a much better option. Please ask your doc about such options. ...Read more
I have night sweats but it's only my upper thighs I wake up and my sheets are wet and my skin is cold and damp is this a thing ?
I've started having night sweats, with an onset of one year ago. I wake up to drenched sheets but I'm not overheated. I don't sweat during the day.
Fever?: Assuming the room is not overly warm, and not using unnecessarily heavy covers, this is something to see a doctor about. True night sweats occur because of fever that drops during the night. See a doctor, and for a week before your appointment, take your temperature (and write down the results) 3 times a day: when you awake in the morning, 4-6 pm, and at bedtime. Also record the nights you sweat. ...Read more

Unrelated?: Your night sweats may or may not have anything to do with your periods. You need to start taking your temperature, not when you awaken, because it the sweating bringing the temp down, but if this happens at the same time, wake up 20 mins before the sweat and take your temp. If you have been running fevers, go and see a doctor. This has the potential to be serious. Good luck. ...Read more
What causes night sweats? Had blood work done everything is normal but still i wake up almost every night soaked in sweat only using a light blanket
See below: Night sweats: there are many potential causes to sweating at night. The term night sweats generally refers to excessive sweating at night related to a hormone imbalance. There is no one answer to explain the origin of sweating at night. Some common causes are: infection, some cancers, several medications, low blood sugars and a host of other less common reasons. Were going to focus in on the hormone imbalance commonly seen in menopause, although by no means limited to menopause. We have seen a common night sweats picture in the men with prostate cancer with elevated estrogen levels. Swelling often starts around your neck. We generally start with saliva testing which allows us to identify what the hormone imbalance actually is and treat accordingly. When we don't start with saliva testing we very often get very good success with progesterone cream in the form of wild yam cream. There are many different preparations of wild yam cream on the market and often the preparation does not have enough progesterone cream to be effective. The above is the simple answer the better answer is to work with a healthcare professional who has experiencing natural hormone therapy. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. Practice safe sex. ...Read more
Possible causes...: Drenching nights sweats can be caused by a number of things: medications, menopause, infections, autoimmune disorders, and cancer. Are you having any other symptoms? I would see a health care provider so that they could do a careful exam and perform a complete medical history. This will help narrow the possible causes so that additional tests can be performed, if necessary. I hope you feel better. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
