Are your periods: still heavy? Blood clots especially large ones usually sign of heavy bleeding during period which can be caused by fibroids. Bleeding: You are having dysfunctional uterine bleeding with an unclear reason. My concern at this point is that you may be anemic. No: If you are pregnant there is no build up of the endometrium to shed, hence you have no menses. There can be bleeding during pregnancy and this is not normal. In early pregnancy this is termed a threatened miscarriage. In later pregnancy there may be problems with the placenta, maternal or fetal vessels or labor, etc. By definition it's not menses. ...Read more
Menses and Pregnancy: I have had many women tell me that they knew someone who had menses during pregnancy. I stopped OB in 1994 after 16 yrs and never had a patient with menses during pregnancy. I think any bleeding can be called menses by some. A real menses is bleeding caused by a normal cycle without pregnancy. So technically, you cannot have menses while pregnant.
