Hello sir, I usually wear gogles when go out and now I have marks on my nose due to sunglasses I wear, please help me how to get rid of that marks.

Nasal Bridge strap: A competent optician can install a little used device called a bridge strap on the glasses to distribute the weight of the spectacles over a broader area. Alternatively, light weight plastic or titanium frames can be used. Wraparound glare filters are effective but add extra weight. So consider prescription sunglasses or photo-adaptive lens material. Moisturize the red skin at night. ...Read more

Pressure on bridge of nose and no reason...cannot wear sunglasses due to the pressure becoming worse...Any suggestions?

Any skin rash/bumps?: Any skin changes over your nose that you can see/feel? Do you wear glasses a lot that could be causing some irritation/discomfort? Can try OTC pain reliever (ibuprofen, naproxen, acetaminophen) to see if it helps. If it persists more than a few days, see doctor for evaluation. Sorry not more helpful. Best of luck with this. Would wearing sunglasses tight on tip of nose (pushing nostrils tog) just 3-4 times for about 20 seconds permanently alter nose shape or make thinner?

Probably not: If time is only 20 seconds. Even longer time will probably be ineffective, because the bone and cartilage of your nose has already matured. ...Read more

I was putting my sunglasses on, I turned my head and the earpiece went into my ear instead of over it and now my ear is bleeding with a little pain.

Abrasion: The skin of the external auditory canal (ear canal) is thin and sensitive. Even mild pressure may result in a scuff and bleeding which is usually self limiting. If deeper, it could result in a hole in the tympanic membrane (ear drum). If irritation persists/ worsens, a physician may prescribe antibiotic ear drops with or without a topical steroid. Remember, no cotton swab use in the ear canal! ...Read more

A pair of sunglasses fell off head in urine then someone with bleeding hand put them on bench 2 days ago for me I gave them quick wipe with soap. Hiv?

HIV is Hard to Get: Absolutely not. Hiv does not survive outside of the body. It does not survive in air or in blood exposed to air. Urine is also sterile. This is a bit of a bizarre question. Do not worry one more minute about this. ...Read more

Husband took a tumble last night, landed on his face in gravel, skinned his nose. Still has dirt in wound, should I take him to get it cleaned out?

Seek attention: Obviously we do not have to seek medical attention for typical scrapes and bruises but your husband's wound is different since there is dirt and possibly other debris in it. Because we are always concerned about infection, I would seek medical attention so his wound can be cleaned out adequately which will reduce the chance of infection. Good luck ...Read more

Smell & taste: It may take between 2 to 4 weeks to fully recover. It depends on how severe the initial infection was. Silicone gel: Studies have shown that applying a silicone gel such as kelo-cote (which you can buy over the counter or online without a prescription) significantly reduces the appearance of scars. The earlier you start using it the better. Good luck.

No: You would not have your nasal bone trimmed to treat sinus problems. Allergy medications mainly treat allergies and not sinus infections. You need to see possibly an ENT doctor to see what is happening with your sinuses. ...Read more

My daughter banged her nose its stopped bleeding and she can breath through both nostrils should I still take her hospital?

My daughter banged her nose its stopped bleeding and she can breath through both nostrils should I still take her hospital?

Maybe: If she can breathe easily from both nostrils it may be ok. However, if the bridge of her nose is swollen or discolored and she took enough of a fall that she could have broken her nose at the base, a doc should look inside for evidence of a blood pocket in the nasal bone or a deviated septum. Both respond better to early correction within 24-48 hrs. ...Read more

I'm 6weeks pregnant have a mild cold stuffy nose feeling very weak I slept all day n still tired what to take to get energy and feel better?

Comfort care: At 6 weeks pregnant - there are very few things you can safely take. And with a mild cold, there are very few medications that could help. Try basic comfort measures - steam inhalation to loosen congestion, drink lots of water, zinc lozenges. The combination of a cold and early pregnancy is exhausting! Rest is your best plan. Sleep as much as you like! ...Read more

No: You should wait about 12 hours before taking the next dose due to the decongestant part of Zyrtec D. Have you tried nasal steroid? It takes about 12 hrs to start working and several days to get optimal results. If problem persists, see an allergist. ...Read more

Is it safe to take two 10 mg montelukast allergy pills in 24 hours? I took one at 7:00 this morning and I'm still sneezing and my nose is runny.

Alternate: Montelukast works in only 50% of the people for congestion relief but has little effects on runny nose or sneezing. Consider a nasal steroid and/or antihistamine. There is no evidence that doubling up on the montelukast works better. ...Read more

I have had a cold for 14 days, still blowing my nose. Today my head is stuffy and my ears are popping. What over-the-counter medicine can I take?

Not unusual: Unfortunately for some, a cold symptom may last 2-3 wks. If you are not having fever, no sinus/facial pain/headache (signs of sinus ifections etc), you probably be ok with some otc combo meds (antihistamine+decongestant)/advil-cold-sinus etc...Afrin (oxymetazoline) spray may very quite effective, but no more than 3-5 days of use.
If symptoms worsen, consult doc.
Good luck. ...Read more

What's wrong with me? What should I take? I have a little bit of a stuffy/runny nose but can still breath and a little soar throught but I can still swallow and I have coughing and when I swallow my chest kinda hurts.

Sore: Sore throat is a fairly common symptom associated with many illnesses. Most of the time it resolves on its own without any other issues. Occasionally it can be due to something more serious that needs treatment. Reasons to seek care are:

- any fever - since it could be strep and you can't tell without an exam/testing
- if it lasts longer than 3 or 4 days
- any difficulty opening your mouth
- unable to swallow
- severe pain
- bleeding in the throat
- redness or swelling on the outside of the neck
- any difficulty breathing or noisy breathing

in the meantime, taking Ibuprofen or Acetaminophen for pain, using a humidifier in your bedroom, drinking plenty of fluids such as hot tea/broth or cold liquids and a spoonful of honey can help. ...Read more

I took 1 tablet of Zyrtec 10mg and flonase today at 10am. It didn't really help, my nose is still clogged. Can I take Benadryl before bed so that it helps me sleep?

Yes you can, but: You need to revise how are you taking those medicines. You need to flush your nose with saline and clear the nasal passages before using the Flonase, which has to used right, (directed backwards and outwards when inside your nose towards your ear). You can double the dose of Flonase or take it twice a day for a day or two, if all this doesn't help, better see your doctor / ENT for re-evaluatio ...Read more
