Exam: Bilateral symptoms is rarely a retinal detachment. Unilateral flashes can be a sign of a retinal problem (especially in myopes) vs. Aura (usually a more specific fixed peripheral shape). If i understand your description correctly, the gold rings could be kayser fleisher rings, copper deposits on the outer edges of the cornea. This is found in wilson's disease, an autosomal recessive (genetic) disease due to a problem with the bodies ability to store copper. It is common for toddlers to have a yellow tint to their ears, finger pads and some other skin areas due to accumulation of vitamin a from yellow vegetables. Acute severe migraine headaches described as the " worse headache i've ever had", seizures, difficulty seeing, weakness or other unusual symptoms need immediate medical attention.
