Doctor can evaluate: A doctor can evaluate to see what might be going on. Maybe there is a gallstone or gall bladder sludge problem. Sometimes the gerd or gastritis is still happening despite taking the medication. The stomach emptying time may be taking too long. A GI specialist can help figure things out, try additional treatments, and/or do an upper endoscopy to see how things look in the esophagus and stomach. ...Read more

Past few days after I eat I get chest pressure and then a deep internal gurgle bubble that seems to relieve pressure. Hist gerd. Is this just gerd?

Very possible.: These symptoms may be due to Gerd, and they sound fairly typical of it. An easy way to tell if symptoms are due to excess acid is to try a liquid or chewable antacid, such as Tums (calcium carbonate) or Mylanta, when you get the pain. If you get a temporary relief, it probably was due to stomach acid and Gerd. If not, you should discuss it with your doctor and consider other possible reasons. Good luck. ...Read more

Mouth has becomesensitive after I let my GERD get bad anytime I eat crackers or toast or cookies chocolate bumps will rise on tongues an cheeks hurt?

Controlling the acid: As you know, gerd will introduce stomach acids into the mouth. Stomach acid has a ph of 1, similar to hydrochloric acid. Keep your gerd under control so acid is not introduced into your mouth. Severe, uncontrolled gerd can literally melt your teeth. The bumps on your tongue and cheeks are probably due to the irritation of the acid. ...Read more

I have gerd and pots. If my gerd acts up my POTS does 2. Especially if I eat chocolate. I get chest bubbles, palps, lightheaded when I stand Up. Why?

Vagus nerve stim: The symptoms you are describing in regards to eating chocolate are most likely causing some distension in your stomach and small bowel leading to stimulation of your parasympathetic nervous system (main nerve being Vagus nerve) which can worsen your POTS. My advice would be to lay off the chocolate. Hope this answers your question. Best of luck. Dr. R ...Read more

I ve dislocated TMJ & GERD & h.Pylori, lost my appetite idon't eat 4 a week nw jst few bites or non, aneamic & gonna get TMJ lavage undr full ansthesia?

NO lavage: Whoa! The TMJ is a very complex area, how would you feel if you dislocated your shoulder? You would be sore for several months. I would advise 1) 3d cat scan --> to made sure the architecture of the TMJ is ok 2) 1-2 wks of anti-inflammatory meds-> to help hasten healing, 3) a soft diet without opening mouth too wide for 2-4weeks-> this joint must not be stressed to allow healing. ...Read more

Cn eating fast and being anxious whilst eating cause GERD in young adult if been doing for 3 years? Get chest pain/stomach pain bending over after eat

Yes, although it: Might not be GERD, just burping (get an MD to look at this). Sounds like anxiety rules your eating habits, so deal with the anxiety. Eating slowly, chewing thoroughly and drinking only a little water with the food will aid digestion, minimize gaseous backlash and stomach/intestinal pain. Enjoy your food as much as possible and see someone about that anxiety. ...Read more

I have gerd, when I have a lot of gas I get upper back pain, goes away after burping, happens when I eat big meals usually?

Simethicone: Simethicone dissolves the gas and that will help you. Obviously, eat smaller meals. Check and make sure you are not gulping down air when nervous or talking too fast (aerophagy). Consider taking a proton pump inhibitor to fix your gerd. May want to discuss your options with a GI specialist, may want to check for barrett's esophagus at some point also. ...Read more

I have been diagnosed GERD & I get heartburns almost once a week. I usually take a Pantoprezole tablet then - is it safe to take it so often?

Talk to doc but: First you need to take the Pantoprazole 30-60 mins before your first meal of the day. There is also concern that chronic use of this type of drug increases the risk in getting pneumonia and possibly traveler's diarrhea.
If taken only when heartburn starts, then a Histamine 2 reverse agonist (Pepcid, Zantac) may be more appropriate. ...Read more

What to do if I have been diagnosed with gerd. Why don't I get heartburn?

GERD: Is a "finding" by studies (X RAY.....GASTROSCOPY) and may be completely ASYMPTOMATIC!

Thus your pain is NOT explained by GERD but the normal studies should be encouraging!

Report your remaining symptoms to your treating Provider for more? Additional treatment!

Hope this helps!

I am experiencing heartburn (gerd) and I was wondering if I got H. Plyori. How does one get this bacteria and what are the chances of me getting it?

GERD: For the GERD heartburn, one can take OTC Omeprazole 20 mg /d or Zantac with a diet that avoids acid foods/drinks. Often H Pylori can be inherited or acquired. A simple blood test can be done to rule this in.

Small hiatus hernia. No GERD, heartburn. What are the chances of this gettin bigger with time and give me symptoms? Anything to do to prevent HH? Ty

May not be a problem: Many people have hiatal hernias without ever having problems. Anything that increases your intraabdominal pressure a lot, such as doing strenuous activity or coughing a lot, or obesity, can cause the hernia to get bigger. Decreasing those activities will reduce your risk of symptoms. Once you have the hernia, you can't prevent it. It won't resolve on its own. ...Read more

When I eat very acidic tomato sauce I feel it start burning all the down. Had awful heartburn throughout pregnancy but not pregnant anymore. Gerd?

Yes gerd likely: But sometimes is worse during pregnancy since stomach is pushed u and relaxes esophageal sphincter but if tomatoes bother you avoid them for now, gerd precautions are to eat 6 small meals instead of 3 to avoid overflow of stomach, elevate head of bed 6 inches for gravity to push down and avoid eating 3 hours before bed or just small amounts. It may pass. ...Read more
