You : You may be dealing with a condition called costochondritis. This is essentially inflammation between the ribs. It is often tender to the touch and can cause chest wall/rib tenderness. The treatment is anti-inflammatory medications like advil or ibuprofen, and steroids in more severe cases. As the information is incomplete and as you are young this is unlikely from heart or lung origin. Unnecessary tests sometimes bring false positive results. A Pretest probability is crucial.
