How long does it take for your pelvic area to heal after giving birth. My baby is now 11 months old and I am still having pelvic pain.

Variable: Most women heal by 6 weeks post-delivery, but having some lingering pain can happen occasionally. By 11 months, you should be completely healed and not be having pain at this point. Sharp tight pelvic pain from bellybutton down to vagina area , is this normal?

Not normal: This symptom is a little confusing, it doesn't immediately suggest a cause. It could be pain from a hernia, or possibly fibroids (large ones) on the uterus can cause pain that could radiate to the vagina as well as lower abdomen. Endometriosis would be a possibility - but that wouldn't show up as a new type of pain in someone who is 48 years old. Imaging and exam would be helpful. ...Read more

The symptoms may not be related to each other, but severe pain requires a prompt exam, including bacterial cultures and maybe even an ultrasound picture. If you don't have insurance, you can go to a local planned parenthood clinic. Please go soon! ...Read more
