Naproxen, which is much longer acting is an alternative. Be sure you're using an adequate dose: 400-800 mg of Advil very 4-6 hours or Aleve (naproxen) 2 tabs with food every 8-12 hours. Possibly...: As a runner and young, chest pain after running 3 miles maybe chest wall related. By putting finger pressure on the sore area, you maybe able to localize the tenderness. If while pressing on it, deep breathing accentuates the pain, then that behavior of pain may confirm chest wall, muscle/rib, etc as the source of pain. Mitral valve prolapse can also cause your symptom. See your doc. ...Read more

I was wondering how common central, prickly chest pain that is also felt under the ribs and in the back is, what causes it, and how to treat it? Thx
Not very common: I have to say that patients do not often describe chest pain as prickly and going also to the back. What it is would depend on a further detailed history regarding when you have it, what brings it on, what makes it go away. How to treat it would depend on what it is. Sorry to be vague, but really the best thing is to see a doc who can take a complete history. ...Read more
