See your doctor: if this is persistent or progressive or recurrent, need to get checked out. Either way, you shouldn't be in pain in that area, and we can't help any more than to say see your MD and follow recommendations for x-Ray or whatever's needed, after a thorough examination. A knot is an area: of increased muscle contraction. These are not uncommon in the muscles of the anterior and posterior chest due to lifting, carrying etc. You could either go to your doctor to have this confirmed or start with a massage therapist who, with the right degree of pressure, might compress and massage the muscle knot and relieve it.
