Why do I have month long periods a month after receving my birth control shot?

Unfortunately, it does it a little at a time, making you have irregular bleeding that may be pretty long. If you feel dizzy or tired or the bleeding is heavy, see your doctor. If it is spotting, give it a week and then see your doctor. Irregular bleeding can happen for up to 3-6 months. ...Read more

"One month" is just plain silly, wherever that idea came from. Hope this helps. ...Read more

Ask your doctor: Many options will make it more likely not to have bleeding, but most take time to work, and aren't guaranteed--often women have irregular unpredictable bleeding for awhile--often the first 1-6 months: the shot--depo provera--50% no periods after a year; take a multi-vitamin with iron, and chart your bleeding. Talk with your doctor if the bleeding continues. ...Read more
