Bitten tongue: You may be clenching and/or grinding your teeth during sleep, a condition called bruxism. The tongue can become caught between the upper and lower teeth, especially larger tongues which overlap the lower teeth. A mouth guard will help tremendously with this problem. ...Read more

Different Causes: Hsv & aphthous ulcers can both benefit from in-office laser therapy (takes less than 5 minutes and significantly reduces pain and length of the presence of the lesions. Hsv episodes can be reduced and on occasion "prevented" with a daily Valtrex (valacyclovir) regimen. No permanent fix.: Canker sores have many causes, if these are canker sores. There are other afflictions like lichen planis that can manifest as sores in these areas. That can occur with other illnesses or weakened immune condition. Stress or trama can bring these outbreaks. However, they can be triggered by exposure to an irritant. Different animals...: Canker sores aren't to be confused with cold sores (which result from herpes virus). Canker sores are not viral, and they are not infectious - they are similar to other immune type reactions, such as dermatitis, etc, and are frequently related to stress (local or systemic).
