This way you will avoid forming a large bolus in your distal esophagus. Timing is critical. ...Read more

I'm only 26. When I get the hiccups I burp after every hiccup. I don't get them very often but when I do its annoying. Can you tell me why?
I'm pregnant a little more than 2 months an I get hiccups a lot what is the cause and what could I take to get rid of them.? I get the hiccups daily
Hiccups are extremely common in pregnancy. The reasons are due to the increasing amount of air breathed in and out during pregnancy, thus making hiccups more likely to occur. Also acid reflux, common in pregnancy as well contributes as well. The fact that you have them daily could mean you have another issue going on on, possibly a throat or nasal issue (i.e. Post nasal drip). Therefore you should have your primary care provider examine you and further evaluate another possible cause of these daily hiccups other than pregnancy.
Best of luck. ...Read more

Yes: Babies normally do seem to hiccup more often than older children do. If the hiccuping is too much, say more than 20 minutes a day for more than 2-3 days a week, the parent should talk to the doctor to see if there is a medical reason for the hiccuping. If a normal baby has a few minutes of hiccuping every couple of days, that is likely normal behavior, and will decrease as the baby gets older. ...Read more
