May be unrelated: The description of yellow coloring on the sides of the eyes is commonly an entity called a pingueculum which is a raised, yellowish patch often on both eyes. These are often more prevalent with age and sun exposure as well as genetics. In general, don't rub the eyes & try using more artificial tears drops. Condolences on loss: Sorry to hear of your loss & how that led you to being so depressed. My guess is that this is not your first time overindulging in this way. Yellow tinged eyes are usually not good things to see in someone your age who's been drinking. I believe you need to acquire help and a good physical checkup & other sorts of attention.
