Would suggest taking really small first bites, give it a good chew effort, 1-2 sips of water, swallow and wait few seconds, then go for the next bite. Hiccups post Nissen: This is likely related to ingesting air. Many reflux patients swallow air. This behavior must be "unlearned". It often resolves with time but takes months. Delayed gastric emptying is also possible. Try simethicone to see if it improves symptoms.
