Why Do I Get Earwax In Only One Of My Ears
Ear wax in the ear canal is a mixture of secretions from oil and sweat glands in the canal's skin. Shedded skin cells are also a major ingredient of ear wax. There are two genetically determined types of ear wax: the wet type and the dry type. While Asians and Native Americans are more likely to have the dry type (crumbly, flaky), Africans and Europeans are more likely to have the ...Read more
What to do if I seem to always get a large buildup of ear wax in one of my ears. Why is that and what causes it?
See a doctor: There are plenty of home remedies, but for large accumulations, you would do best seeing an ent. Trying other things could lead to more problems.
Did the valsalva. One of my ears whistle when I talk or other people talk louder than normal conversation. Also have earwax in the?
Need ear irrigation: Sounds like your earwax need to be removed. Your Primary Care Provider may be able to do this. The whistling is from your eustacian tubes opening. See diagram. Hope this helps Dr Z
My ears don't produce earwax anymore and I know its needed for keeping bugs away. What can I do to get my ears to produce earwax again?
Earwax: First, you need to know why you're not producing earwax. It's unusual not to be able to produce earwax. I would request referral to ENT to discuss that.
Warm soapy water: In the shower use a little shampoo or soapy water in ear. Daily mild cleaning prevent most major buildups. Some people have a lot of ear wax production and ear canal / hair that tends to retain wax. In that case resort to occasional cleaning with carbamide peroxide from drug store - use as directed for initial cleaning then use a few drops as needed for maintenance.
Can earwax build up damage hearing? My mom was cleaning my ears out & I suddenly can't hear out of one ear. Any solutions? It doesn't hurt.
Yes: There are 2 possible explanations for why you have hearing loss. Fist of all, depending on how your mom cleaned your ears, she may have pushed the wax further in and created an impaction causing hearing loss. Secondly, the cleaning process may have damaged the canal or tympanic membrane. Have your physician take a look inside and will know immediately which it is.
cleaned my ears last night & after cleaning the left one a lot of earwax came out on the q tip after that I started having muffled hearing, ear ringin?
Impacted Earwax: You have likely pushed the wax in further and caused an impaction. This is causing the muffled hearing and ringing in your ears. Avoid using Q-tips in the canal. See your doctor to have the wax removed.
I have noticed for the last 6 months one of my ears has flakey ear wax while my other one is normal what is the cause of the flakey ear?
Normal asymmetry: It's normal for both ears to produce different amounts and types of wax. Flakiness is usually due to not enough natural oil in canal. You can use a little baby oil in the canal a couple times a week to soften it up.
My doc says I don't have enough ear wax in one of my ears. I find it itching a lot. What can I do to relieve the itching?
Ear wax?: Everyone produces differing amounts of ear wax, and the amount of wax often does NOT impact whether you itch or not. Itching of the ear canal is annoying because it is hard to get to and often tough to see exactly what is causing the itch because of the small area to visualize. After an exam, a common Rx with a steroid drop for the ear canal is often curative.See 1 more doctor answer
What are some ways to clean out impacted ear wax? I can only hear out of one side since cleaning my ears out this morning? It doesn't hurt.
If I clean the ear wax from my ears, the next time I always get a migraine - could the two be connected, or is it just a coincidence?
Every morning I have wet ear wax I can get out of my ear. Is this normal? Doc told me they saw fluid in my ears. Drainage. Had tubes when younger.
Not usually: Ear pain is usually due to changes in pressure in the middle ear due to infection, fluid accumulation, allergies, etc. Or due to infection of the ear canal or ear drum, itself. Wax buildup is usually virtually painless with the biggest symptom being hearing loss. There could be exceptions. Get your ears cleaned out and examined by a professional.
NO: Most people I see with "excessive" earwax have normal earwax but overuse cotton swabs. While they may get out some wax with them, they end up pushing more in deeper which allows the wax to get packed in and potentially act as a plug, making it harder to hear and possibly painful or itchy. I would avoid cotton swabs more than 2x a month. Your body often can take care of itself.
My ears are usually depositing some earwax and sometmes it hurts and has a squeaky sound. What do I do?,
If you have: Excessive earwax your doc can easily clean your ears in the office. Peace and good health. It's painless and you may even hear better.
I was cleaning out my ears and when I pulled out the Q-tip there was a black substance it was like earwax accept black almost like someone put a Shar?
Ear wax black: M of unknown age or medical history. I was cleaning out my ears and when I pulled out the Q-tip there was a black substance it was like earwax accept black almost like someone put a Shar? ANS:Not what a Shar is? But sounds like old ear wax to me. Use ear wax oil and special ear flushing syringe to clean Not a Q tip.
Hearing loss: Do you use qtips, which just pushes the wax further in. Do you have any chronic dermatologic problems like eczema, which might make you more prone to build up debris in the canal. Do you do other things (oils, flushes, candling) in the ear canal that might irritate it and cause wax to build up. There also are just people who have heavier wax production and need to have a regular ear cleaning.
