Vasovagal: It sounds like your blood pressure drops when you bend over or cough... In the normal sense the body is reacting more than what it should. Also you might have to get your blood pressure checked to make sure it is not varying significantly in different positions like laying, sitting or standing. Lastly positional vertigo is a possibility.

Many causes: Most commonly at your age, this would be a muscular problem. A strain of the posture muscles of the back. Physical therapy would be the place to start. If you do not improve more test would be needed to find the cause of your pain. Another likely cause from the little information you provided is a problem in the facet joints of the lumbar spine. May be normal: Blood rushes to your head as you bend over. It may be normal. See your gp.

Anemia is low blood: Low red blood cell count and low hemoglobin (hb) are called anemia. If you are anemic your body/brain may not get enough blood causing you to feel faint (dizzy) on sudden standing up. This can be easily verified by getting your blood count (called cbc) checked from a lab. Dehydration: This could be dehydration. If dizziness starts after you resume from bending position, it could be low fluids in your body. One way to check if you are dehydrated is to see if you are making clear urine a few times a day. If not, you are dehydrated. If your blood pressure drops and pulse goes up, it could be pots (postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome).

Hi Healthworrier: Did you mean to say HealthWARRIOR? Yes, common colds can cause congestion and make you feel dizzy or lightheaded when bending over or laying flat. Have you had BPPV diagnosed before? What makes you sure it's NOT BPPV? Perhaps, your symptoms only came on with this latest Upper respiratory illness? Do you know what to do if it IS BPPV? Right- call the PPVC (Paroxysmal Positional Vigilance Cops)!

What a pain!: Depending on how long you haven't been feeling well and if you have thick colored mucous, you may be suffering from a sinus infection. If you have pain in your cheeks or forehead areas associated with nasal congestion, it may be a sinus infection, allergies, etc. It may benefit you to seek medical attention if you do not start to feel better.
