During a heavy period can your iron levels get low? Can this make you feel dizzy?

Chance of pregnancy?: A urine pregnancy test, done correctly, gives a reliable result 3 weeks after sex (3 weeks after when conception might have occurred), or 1 week after missing a period. If done sooner, a positive result is likely real, but a negative result may be due to testing too soon, and thus lead to a repeat test. If a woman gets her normal regular period, then she is not pregnant, and a test is not needed. ...Read more

Yesterday started with period. Had unbelievable pain. Today I am constantly dizzy and heart rate is 55bpm. Is this ok or should I get to a dr?

Yes: One with "unbelievable pain" should be seen by her doctor right away. The doctor will want to know where the pain is, how long it has been there, what might have started it, what makes it feel better, and what makes it feel worse. Being "constantly dizzy" is another reason to see the doctor. The doctor will ask whether or not the "room is spinning" vs. The "room is graying out" (lightheadedness). ...Read more

5 days after period starts I always get dizzy and my blood pressure goes down to 110/57 then up to 134/83 in minutes and I feel faint and anxious why?

Needs evaluation: It depends on how heavy your periods are. Women who have heavy menses are at risk for anemia and therefore low blood volume. This can translate into low blood pressure, which is why some can feel dizzy. It is necessary for evaluation by a doctor, your pcp or ob/gyn, in order to determine this. Blood count, electrolytes, and BP measurement are important to determine the cause of your symptoms. ...Read more
