Pain and burning sensation in my stomach. Pressure near my rib cage. Feels like my stomach is on fire. Any idea?

Stomach acid?: We all produce stomach acid; we need it to digest our food. But excess acid irritates the lining of the stomach - even though it's built to withstand a high-acid environment. If a sore develops, it can deepen into an ulcer. Another acid-related condition is reflux (heartburn). Stomach pains my husband has been having stomach pains for the last couple of weeks and its just now getting worse. He says sometimes he feels like his stomach is on fire and when he has a bowl movement it hurts coming out

This: This sounds like a case gastritis and/or ulcers. The burning pain is from the excess acid produced in the stomach, esecially after a spicy meal, acidic food intake, chocolate, and caffeine as well. The pain with bowel movements may be due to hemorrhoids.
Your husband needs to see his primary care provider sooner rather than later for a complete work up of his problems and treatment. In the meantime, he should avoid the above mentioned foods, take an over the counter anti-acid like Pepcid (famotidine) or prilosec, and slowly add fiber to his diet and drink plenty of water.
Best of luck. ...Read more

16 year old male. My stomach very acidic which regularly does not hurt but feels somewhat like fire. Could this be asign of ulcers, reflux, or cancer?

Stomach irritation: "acidic" feeling or sharp pains below breastbone/upper midabdomen can certainly be signs of stomach or small intestine (duodenal) irritation (gastritis/duodenitis), an infection (helicobacter pylori), ulcers, and very rarely in a 16 year old, tumors or cancers. If antacids help, likely it's excess acid production, or a decrease in protective mucus (from smoking, advil/aleve, infection). See md! ...Read more
