Habit: We need to eat, and drink water, and breathe. Feeling one must chew ice or some other nonessential behavior means it may have risen to a habit or even a compulsion. Compulsions usually interfer with activities and tend to produce a lot of anxiety if they are nto performed. PICA: Pica is a pattern of eating non-food materials, such as dirt. It is seen more in young children than adults. Between 10 & 32% of children ages 1 - 6 have these behaviors. It can also occur during pregnancy. A lack of certain nutrients, such as iron deficiency anemia and zinc deficiency, may trigger the unusual cravings. Pica may also occur in adults who crave a certain texture in their mouths. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Could you explain why does my teeth hurt when i eat ice cream , chocolates and anything complete cold and too hot?
What to do if i ate some taco chips with cheese, cookies, and ice tea. I need to throw it up. Help how can I ?
Why do i ALWAYS crave ICE-cold water? I have an extremely incontrollable urge to drink ice cold water, and it all started, after i started risperdal?
Not sure: It's common to get food cravings when on meds, and to become dehydrated on meds, so craving water makes sense. Why ICE cold? I don't know, except it does taste better, no? Your MD can run some simple tests to make sure you are not anemic or have a few other imbalances that are possible like SIADH, sodium prob, or blood sugar spikes. Sugar would be most likely if ANYTHING is wrong. Be well. ...Read more
How do you neutralize chilli burn on your fingers. Habe tried salt, alchohol, ice and cream with no results.
Many possibilities: I am not sure that neutralize is the right word; if you have a burn then it is too late to neutralize it but you can treat it. Treatment for chemical burns is similar to those from heat. My favorite remedies are aloe vera ; calendula cream topically. Homeopathic hypericum, capsicum or urtica urens may help. Take vit c 2000 mg 3-4x/day. Also see http://earthclinic.Com/cures/burns.Html. ...Read more
Nobody knows: The key is that you get the iron deficiency managed. I got myself iron deficient with overzealous blood donations and discovered that the chew-the-ice stuff is real. Rice cakes are a popular second -- anything big and crunchy and relatively tasteless seems to appeal to the iron-deficient. I notice that you list other meds but not an iron supplement, and no sign of a workup. Find the cause & get Rx ...Read more
This : This information is taken from the mayo clinic web site. Doctors use the term "pica" to describe craving and chewing substances that have no nutritional value — such as ice, clay, cornstarch or paper. Short-lived pica is very common in otherwise-healthy children. On the other hand, craving and chewing ice (pagophagia) is often associated with iron deficiency anemia. Less commonly, other nutritional problems may cause you to crave and chew ice. And in some individuals, pica is a sign of emotional problems, such as stress, obsessive-compulsive disorder or a developmental disorder. A thorough medical evaluation can help determine if pica is due to an underlying medical condition. If the cause of pica is an emotional or developmental issue, cognitive behavioral therapy may be helpful. ...Read more

What to do if I do not eat processed food.i don't drink pop or use sugar, I take colostrum bovine and multi vitamins daily.i sleep well, why can't I drop down?
Feeling hot: I do not believe anyone has studied this phenomenon with pickles, but it is possible that when you are hot, you lose salt in your sweat and pickles are high in salt, therefore, it is possible that your body's inclination to replace the salt makes you crave pickles. You may get different points of views from other physicians ...Read more
No: Hi. No, you don't have low blood sugar unless you're taking insulin. Popular "hypoglycemia" is a mythical self diagnosis with no medical/scientific validity. True endogenous hypoglycemia is a vanishingly rare condition caused by tumors or hyperplasia of the cells in the pancreas that make insulin...emphasis on vanishingly rare. So your symptoms are not related to your blood sugar ...Read more
