Redness at the corner of the outside of my eyes not at tear ducts. My allergist noticed it yesterday but I blew it off. Now wondering what cause is?
Need to blot tears from both eyes periodically. No redness or irritation. Ophthalmologist says no nasolachrymal duct obstrn. What could be the cause?
Dry eyes: It sounds funny that when eyes seem wet that this is most common symptoms of dry eye. We have two types of tears. Normal basal tears that wet the eye everytime we blink. We need these tears for the eye to be comfortable, and for normal funtionimg of the cornea. When the cornea dries out we get reflex tearng. No pain, no itching, just red eyes. Condition I've had throughout my life. Tried many eye drops, mostly artificial tears. Ways to prevent redness?
Many possibilities: It can be way too many things to list, such as chronic allergies, pterygium, chronic dry eyes, large blood vessels, etc. An ophthalmologist would be able to tell. The one thing you don't want to start doing is self treating with very dangerous eye drops, such as visine and clear eyes, which will certainly make it worse. Start with an ophthalmology exam and go from there. Feel better. ...Read more
Small white dot on the brown part of my eye, I wear contacts, tearing, feeling of something there, no alergeries, redness, nonsmoker, no history, help?
Corneal ulcer: The spot is probably on the cornea, the crystal over the brown iris. As you wear contacts and feel something, it most likely is an ulcer. If it is near the edge it is probably not serious but does require treatment to prevent it from getting serious. If it is near the center, it is serious and could affect your vision. Leave your contact out and see an ophthalmologist ASAP. ...Read more

1 month old baby. Her right eye is just producing tears every now and then but no redness. It looks tired too. Is there an issue?
Check with peds: Probably she has blocked tear duct. Using clear water on a clean, soft cloth, gently wipe any discharge out of your baby's eyes. Do this several times a day or as often as necessary. The tear ducts lie just beneath the nasal corner of the eyes. Gently massage this area moving your fingertip in a semi-circle from the corner of the eye inward toward the nose. But for sure bring her to see peds. ...Read more

I have a tear duct infection x2 days I have developed worsening pain redness and a edema pouch in the eye bag area that comes and goes is this normal?
ISeeSaidThe BlindMan: Is that normal? Yeah, normal for a worsening infection! If you haven't seen a doctor, do so and if you have, see someone else. Some Motrin and a warm washcloth will ease some of the pain but you need an exam, antibiotic and maybe the services of an opthalmologist who might have to drain some of that infection. Sooner the better. If scar tissue develops you might be left with a chronically tearing eye! ...Read more
Eye redness w/ tears one day in right eye and sensitivity to light. Now right eye is somewhat blurrier than usual (w/glasses) and seeing things double?
Touched eye after handling raw chicken. Tear duct is sore almost a week later. No redness. Could this resolve on its own? Anything to watch for?
Yes: The difficult problem is knowing what you mean by sore tear duct. The inner corner of your eyelid has a drainage hole (punctum) that allows tears to drain into your nose via nasolacrimal duct. If you had an infection from the chicken, I'd expect much more yellowish discharge from eyeball. However if you're very tender in the corner with eyelid redness/swelling, get it checked by Eye MD.? antibiotc ...Read more
