Why Could My Rbc Count Be Low But I Have A High Iron Count
Ferritin, hematocrit, hglobin normal. Hematocrit 44. Will iron increase it? Serum iron low. Rbc count normal and above.
Why do you ask?: This is almost certainly the right hematocrit for your body. No "pop" remedy is going to increase it; if you are seeking to raise it artificially for an athletic competition, you'll have to ask elsewhere. Loading up on iron is likely to make you sick, both acutely (upset stomach) and long-term (iron-overload still kills plenty of men). ...Read more
Rbc count is 4.25 but not deficient in iron, B12 or folic. Platelets are 67 (runs in family). Im 31, dad (72) has leukemia. How concerned should I be?
What does it mean to have normal Hb 13 with low mcv 76 (80-94) and low mch 23(27-32)?? my rbc count is high 5.5 (4-5.2 ) could it be thalassemia ?
It could be: Thalassemia diagnostic tests may include a routine blood count, hemoglobin electrophoresis to find out the types of hemoglobin one has in one's blood, and sometimes DNA analysis to try to see if certain mutations are present. "Thal. minor" is somewhat common in certain parts of the world, and in certain populations. A doctor can evaluate to see if anything else might be causing the lab results. ...Read more
19 months old anisocytosis 1+, microcytes 1+, ovalocytes 1+, poikilocitosis 1+, RBC count high 5.6(4-5.2), MCV low 68(70-86), rdw.Rbc high 19.8(12-16)?
Iron deficiency: Without having more a picture of what is going on, those numbers would be consistent with iron deficiency, especially given the age of the child. Iron studies should be performed to confirmed. Does the child drink a significant amount of milk (>18 oz per day)? A trial of oral iron (not just what is found in multivitamins) would be a reasonable thing to try. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
What does it mean when your RBC count is high, hemoglobin, hematocrit, absolute eosinophils, mcv, mch, mchc are low and the RDW and platelet count high?
D/w your doctor: You should go to see your doctor and discuss the result of your blood work with your doctor. To answer your question will depend on how high is the high level mentioned here and how low is the low levels are here? I need to see the actual numbers to really interprete the result. There are many different things that can cause from non significant, iron deficiency to thalassemia trait etc. D/w md. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
In my heamogram the values are RBC count 4.04 low, mcv105.7high, mch36pghigh, rdw14.8%high what does it mean?
MCV is very high: Many lab normal values are usually set at lowest 5th per centile to the highest 95th percentile, and thus about 10% of people who are normal would have a value judged too low or too high. In your case the only definitely abnormal value is the MCV of 105.7. Although there may be a nonconsequential reason for a high mcv, in your case, i absolutely recommend to see a hematologist.. ...Read more
I am having high RBC count
5.5 million cells/ul
Haemoglobin is normal
MCV is low
What does it mean ?
What should I do to reduce RBC count?
Probably thal minor: Ask your physician whether you have beta-thalassemia minor, and whether a few simple labs can confirm it. It's worth knowing because if you marry someone else who has it, you may have a child whose life will be very sickly with thal major. ...Read more
My husband has a high lymphocyte %, low RBC count, and high mch, what does all this combined mean?
Insufficient info: Your husband may be anemic and needs further evaluation for the cause. A high mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration has little meaning absent a full picture of all other parameters measurable. The high % of lymphocytes, again, in and by itself, has little impact on establishment of a diagnosis. Labs are of little value absent good history, physical exam and a thoughtful knowledgeable doctor. ...Read more
