I take ranitidine or omeprazole for reflux. Need to begin azithromycin (z-pack). How long to wait between meds since zith is not good with antacids?
Several hours: Antacids containing aluminum or magnesium salts( maalox, mylanta) will decrease the absorption of azithromycin, allow several hours between dosing. On the other hand taking omeprazole/azithromycin may result in increased concentration of either drugs thus watch/report increase abdominal distress. Ranitidine may be a better alternative with least reported interaction with azithromycin. Take care. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
