Would that be okay to use together a face wash and moisturiser both containing salicylic acid?

Would that be okay to use together a face wash and moisturiser both containing salicylic acid?

Not a good idea: Try it with the face wash first for several weeks It may cause some irritation at first and your skin needs to become tolerant of it, which can take a month or 2. It may work fine by then and you won't need more. If you don't improve with it, I would see a doc then, and see if an antibiotic for acne would be a better next step than increasing the salicylic acid. ...Read more

For better facial skin, should I wash with water only or use a face wash with ingredients like salicylic acid?

Water's fine: Warm water and if dirty, mild soap is all you usually need. Salicylic acid and its derivatives are keratolytics (agents which cut through skin cells and can thin the skin, reduce the size of calluses and the like). Skin normally sheds on its own--half of household dust is human skin! ...Read more

Forget this stuff: Nothing you can do on your own is going to touch the acne scars. I'm sorry your acne wasn't treated as it should have been, but you do have the option of getting seen by a dermatologist or plastic surgeon who may offer laser work, filler, or microsurgery. Best wishes. ...Read more

I have whiteheads on my cheeks and forehead. I started using face wash with salicylic acid now they are turning to blackheads. It this normal?

I have whiteheads on my cheeks and forehead. I started using face wash with salicylic acid now they are turning to blackheads. It this normal?

Black vs whiteheads: Whiteheads are pores covered by a thin layer of skin cells. Thus, oils and white blood cells that react to oils (or to acne bacteria in the oil gland) are stuck just under the surface of the skin. The result is a whitehead. It's possible for them to "turn into" blackheads if the thin layer of cells got scrubbed away with washing, allowing the trapped comedone to darken upon exposure to air oxygen. ...Read more

I used a face wash with salicylic acid in it.. It has now caused a blister on side of my nose .. The swelling has gone down.. Will bactroban (mupirocin) help?

Possibly: Whenever there is an opening in the skin, there is the likelihood of infection, which will delay healing. Bactroban (mupirocin) is an excellent topical antibiotic and should prevent secondary infection. If you have never used this cream before, I advise testing it elsewhere on your skin first to be sure you do not react to this as well. ...Read more

I use salicylic acid 20% on spots. If i neutralise & wash my face, can I use differin (adapalene) as well without irritation?

Maybe: The salicylic acid is not neutralized as you do with glycolic acid. The absorption is fast and it crystalizes quickly. The addition of differin (adapalene) is placing Retin-A on the area. The combination is often used for acne but either together or alone can cause dry flaky skin. ...Read more
