If you state specifically where they hurt. The swelling part is a bit of a concern as swelling in the morning is not as common as swelling say in the evening. If you were laying down for most of the night then usually swelling is limited in the morning.

Could be...: This could be simply neuropathy (pinched nerve incited by position, such as lying supine) or something more serious such as reduced blood flow to the extremities (claudication in peripheral artery disease).
