Have severe dry eyes. Eyelids glue to eyeballs & in am rips cells from cornea, cause pain/redness daily. Lubricants don't help. Any other suggestions?

Recurrent erosion: Sounds like recurrent erosion syndrome with your sticking and tearing symptoms. Agree with muro ointment. Alternatively, your eyes may be opening at night and drying out. Try sleeping without a ceiling fan on and with a humidifier. Ointment will certainly help. Goggles such as tranquileyes by eyeeco can also help if this is the case. ...Read more

Heat, age, hygiene: It is most likely dried tears and discharge from blepharitis-gets worse when its hotter, poor lid hygiene and aging. Regular lid hygiene with occaisional topical antibiotics controls it. Warm compress with lid scrubs. Bad cases or rosacea (see your doctor for this diagnosis) are often given systemic antibiotics (pills you take by mouth) in addition to topical. Its never cured-its controlled! ...Read more

Viral conjunctivitis: You may have pink eye (viral conjunctivitis). This is contagious and can be spread by your hands and anything you touch. I recommend you stay home from school and go to your eye doctor to rule out other conditions such as allergy or infection. Contact allergy:eyes: A reaction to eyelash glue can be similar to poison ivy: it starts 1-4 days after exposure begins, involves a blistering rash, itches severely. It lasts +/- three weeks. This requires oral steroids frequently. Strong steroid creams are not used around the eyes because of risk of glaucoma/cataracts. Fexfenadine is not likely to control it. If continuing to get worse, see a doctor + get steroids. ...Read more
