Why am I having bone aches? Does the flu do cause bone aches?

Why am I having bone aches? Does the flu do cause bone aches?

Bone ache: Not sure what you mean by bone ache. Muscle pain and tenderness may accompany influenza infection, but deep seated severe pain which feels as if it is in the bone is more associated with virus infections like dengue or chikungunya. Where have you been and what have you been exposed to? Bitten by mosquitoes, ticks, other critters?

Bone Pain (Definition)

Depending on who is using the term, bone pain can be used to describe a pain that seems very deep, as opposed to something more superficial, or the term can be limited to pain that arises from the bone itself. There are other potential causes of deep pain other than pain from the bone including pain from a pinched nerve ...Read more

My dad has 22.45 WBC with 71.1% NEU and 18% LYM. No chest nodules, joint/bone pain or above mild fatigue - can lift stuff and doesn't sleep to long or too short. He's a smoker. No sight problems or body ache. He only had the flu the day he gave the sample

Respiratory illness: I'm so sorry your father isn't feeling well. Studies show smokers are at high risk for community acquired pneumonia, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and lung cancer. The influenza virus predisposes to superinfection with bacterial pneumonia and based on pulmonary exam I would treat your father for a mixed infection with oseltamivir and either azithromycin or moxifloxacin/ dep on risk factors

What can I do to treat body aches caused by the flu?

What can I do to treat body aches caused by the flu?

Analgesics: Tylenol, (acetaminophen) Ibuprofen help with body aches (myalgias), but incompletely effective. If <48hrs, dr. Might give tamiflu. Try a warm bath, vaporizer, lots of fluids, throat lozenges. Influenza is a miserable illness. If you haven't been vaccinated, i'd advise you to get it. There are 3 strains of influenza-so, you could theroretically get influenza 2 more times this season. Ugh!

Amplified pain: Fibromyalgia is a type of amplified pain syndrome where normal sensations such as touch or light pressure causes pain. Often causes "pain all over" including joints and muscles. It can feel similar to the joint and muscle pain that comes with the flu, but with fibromyalgia, there is no evidence of active infection. Seek a rheumatologist for appropriate diagnosis and treatment of fibromyalgia.

Could the flu shot cause a stomach ache?

Could the flu shot cause a stomach ache?

Influenza Vacccine: Stomach Ache was not listed on any of the articles that I reviewed. The flu shot has inactivated virus- so it will not infect you with the flu. If you have reactions to the shot they usually resolve within one to two days. Side effects can include a low grade fever, aches & pain, and localized swelling, redness and pain at the shot site. Some people have had allergic reactions to the flu vaccine.

Can the cold or the flu cause fever that gets better in the morning, headaches, chills, and muscle aches for more than 2 days?

Yes: The flu virus often causes fever, headaches, cough, headaches, fatigue and muscle aches for 5-10 days. It's common for someone to have normal temperature in the morning with fever in the late afternoon and evening. A cold usually causes less severe symptoms and low-grade or no fever.

Is it a cause of concern when you get over the flu and then have similar symptoms 9 days later? Symptoms: fatigue, chills, hot flashes, and body aches

Flu: You have to differentiate between 2 things that may happen after flu: one is bacterial infection (staph pneumonia) which usually presents with high grade fever, chills, cough w\o chest pain. The other thing is the post viral syndrome which usually a continuation of the flu symptoms but get milder with time.

My heart rate is over 100 BPM and back muscle are aching IV had a cough for a while now but easing off not sure if I have the flu cause no temp

Does sound like flu: Take your temperature after 4 pm (when fever shows itself). Use an ear or temple device or, if you use an oral thermometer, be sure not to eat or drink for 30 minutes beforehand. It's possible that you had a fever a week ago and that you're on the tail-end of this illness when fever has resolved.

You: You need to be seen by a doctor again and have a complete evaluation. It may be muscle aching pain such as myositis. It could be nerve pain such as neuropathy which can be caused by numerous conditions. You could have an electrolyte imbalance such as potassium. You could be having a reaction to a medication that you take so be sure your physician is aware of all medications and supplements. But I urge you to be seen immediately again. If you have increased pain, fever, weakness or numbness then you will have to go to the er.
