Is it concerning that my 3 week old baby squeeks while breastfeeding? Sometimes she squeeks outside of feeding but not as often as when she is feeding
Noisy feeder: It is very common for infants to make noises while they are feeding and the causes are many, most of which are of no major concern. Noises associated with color change of the face, choking and gagging, or feeding difficulties should be evaluated. Adequate weight gain as monitored routinely by your pediatrician is a good sign that this is not a significant issue. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

I have very big nipple. It makes latching difficult. Baby feeds over an hour then wakes up soon to feed. Milk is enough (4 oz) when pump. Pacifier?
Work on feeds: More than 10 minutes on a side will only gain baby 5% more milk, so if baby stays this long it may delay movement of milk forward. I would not feed baby any sooner than 2 hours from the last feed & not assume that their sucking behavior is hunger. Br is feeding + pleasure of lip stimulation + nurturing.Other forms of oral stimulation like a pacifier can help. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Can I nurse my baby when she gets hungry in between feedings, in addition to bottle feeding her pumped breast milk? Or is that feeding her too much?
Nurture vs nutrient: Don't assume that willingness to latch & feed every hour is necessary hunger. You can unwittingly create a snacking baby if you assume every mouthing or rooting response is a need to feed. Babies can do this for the comfort. Hunger is an empty stomach. ...Read more
It gets easier with: Time to interpret your baby's cries. Unfortunately, when babies cry they swallow air. The smooth muscle of the intestine isn't synchronized yet to pass the air out. If baby seems gag when starting to nurse, he may need a burp. I'll ask my arabic-speaking daughter to help explain the " football hold" or "colic carry" to you to help baby pass gas. When all else fails, allow your baby to self-calm. ...Read more

No, educated!: Younger siblings have been shown to learn much of what they need from older sibs. Twin behaviors are often kind of exaggerated versions of singleton behaviors, and younger sibs have no problem understanding how they are different. Besides, keeping a younger sib away from olders would deprive them of more than half the fun!! ...Read more

Much more info is needed such as pre-thru post-natal history, duration, feed/sleep schedule, full description of stools, and more. See your doctor now for proper evaluation. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Likely reflux: Most likely your newborn is experiencing gastroesophogeal reflux, a common condition in babies. Try keeping baby elevated (head up), during feedings and for 20 minutes or so after feedings. Be sure not to overfeed. There is a possibility that there may be a lactose or protein intolerance, as well. Try limiting your dairy intake. If these things don't help, please contact your pediatrician! ...Read more
