Low risk: What you described does not put you at high risk, unless you have had anal sex with other men. In any case you should get a HIV nucleic acid test in about 6 months. If that test result is negative, you could consider yourself free of HIV, unless you get additional exposures. ...Read more

Hi doc I tried on a few bikinis without my underwear and with an open wound from shaving. Am I at risk of HIV?

No: I am glad you are health conscious but you're an adult and you know these fears are unrealistic. Nicks in the skin are sealed by the body. Nothing's getting in. HIV doesn't live on clothes. You just want reassurance. You're good. ...Read more

I am only HSV 1 and 2 IgG positive not HIV positive. My HIV is still negative but im very scared if I am at risk of hiv?

Unknown: It's great that you are keeping up on your std testing. Having one std increased you risk of others since it means that you have not always practiced safe sex. Make sure to use condoms from now on and get retested for HIV in 6 months. You are probably fine but get checked just in case. ...Read more

URGENT.I went to a barber for haircut. He used a razor to thin my hair,he cut me in process blood. He used the same one to other person 5 mins before me. Am I at risk of hiv? Do i need to get PEP? help

Stop worrying: If we could get HIV at the barber's, we'd see it actually happening. It doesn't. This has been looked at and nobody's shown transmission. Ask your barber how the razor is cleaned between customers. The HIV virus is so wimpy that even a hot, fresh blood-laden needle only transmits 1 time in 300. Further, a razor that cuts a person usually does not get much blood on it in the first place. ...Read more

I am at risk of HIV transmission if my tattoo artist touched his stuff without taking off his gloves while tattooing me? I had herpes from unprotected sex 2 years ago. Fortunately, I am hiv- but i became obsessed over hiv.I have a close-friend who is a

No risk: HIV is not transmitted by such indirect contact. If you don't have unprotected sex or share drug injection equipment with other persons, you are very unlikely to ever catch HIV, which is not transmitted by suchr kinds of contact or environmental contamination. It sounds like you have OCD focused on HIV or other kinds of infection (germophobia). Discuss with your doctor. Good luck! ...Read more
