Perhaps: Strep throat, mononucleosis, or other viruses. For significantly sore throat w swollen tonsils / lymph nodes – see physician & get a strep throat test & culture. Antibiotics are imperative for Strep Throat. Try saltwater gargles. Mix tsp of salt in 8 oz of warm water – gargle w this several times/day. Ear pain tired: It sounds like you have an ear or sinus infection or if the throat is very swollen on one side you might have a peritonsillar abscess. If you have a fever and /or difficulty swallowing see a doctor right away. This could also be seasonal allergies and and over the counter allergy/sinus medicine might help. Stuffed up sinuses make it hard to sleep thus accounting for your fatigue.

Go see ENT doctor: Sore throat is commonly caused by infections (glands can enlarge although they are actually located in the neck). Any sore throat that persists beyond 2-3 weeks requires full evaluation from ENT doctor to make sure there is no serious infection like Strept throat.

Possibly: You can still get streph throat even if you don't have tonsils.
Needs evaluation: See a doctor, could be viral or may need antibiotics for a bacterial infection. If bacterial, it will be a number of days on antibiotics but be certain to take anything prescribed until all the pills are finished; if viral could be a number of weeks.

Probably Viral infec: Sore throat is frequently caused by a virus (viral upper respiratory infection). You can take Aspirin or tylenol (acetaminophen) for relief of symptoms but it has to be repeated every 6 to every 8 hours in order to control the fever. Fever should settle down in 3-5 days. If the fever persists you should see your family doctor as you may require antibiotics if you have strept throat infection.
