Hey! I've been experiencing white tongue not oral thrush, blackish gum & dry mouth. .. do you think it's hiv?

Is white tongue always oral thrush? Asthma, otherwise healthy. No oral steroids. Albuterol only. Use 4/ day. No ins. Cant get controller meds.
No: White tongue is not always oral thrush. If your tongue does not hurt or bleed when the white coating is scraped away with something blunt like a tongue depressor it is not likely to be thrush. I suggest brushing your tongue with a toothbrush and rinsing with a good quality mouthwash and seeing if that helps. It may be just bacterial overgrowth. You could also take a probiotic. ...Read more

Don't freak out yet. The fact that there does not appear to be a causative organism is part of the process. Ask an oral surgeon to have a look. They will be able to judge if a small sample needs to be taken. It is not the big "c" yet! It might just be biting.

It doesn't sound like a thrush infection. Try brushing you tongue to remove the whit e coating on it.
Thrush occurs in adults with a compromised immune system. The lesions are white with a cottage cheese like appearance. Mouth can be burning or painful. Pain with swallowing sometimes a loss of taste.
