Help! There's white coating on tongue after having tonsillectomy?

Don't panic

Tongue
White coating of the tongue is not a serious problem. Usually is reflection of other problems (like use of antibiotics, digestive issues, bad oral hygiene) .Due to your recent surgery once you start eating normal food and brushing better white coating will go away. If it persists longer then 2 weeks see you physician.

Had a tonsillectomy at 15 - how can I reduce ear pressure & swollen tongue?

Ask your ENT

Ear pain after tonsillectomy is the rule and not the exception. Pain medicine can help. Motrin is being used increasingly- ask your ENT if they are okay with that. Also, they may consider a dose of steroids. Stay hydrated and this will pass, but it could take a week or more.

Dr. Paul Brand answered:

I have tongue cramping 5 days after a tonsillectomy, how do I fix/stop this?

More time needed

Muscle
If tonsillectomy was 5 days ago, the tonsil beds are undergoing the process of sloughing, where the surgical areas lose the clotted "scabs" that form after removal of the tonsils. The muscles around the tonsils are sore from the recent surgery, and it's impossible to move your tongue without disturbing these areas - it's likely the cramping will decrease in time, but check in with your surgeon.

I got a tonsillectomy on the 16th and my tongue is covered in this nasty beige layer that almost feels like a fuzzy blanket.?

Scab

Tongue
You will develop a scab over the area where your tonsils were removed. It will be moist because of your mouth. You should make sure it is not thrush (yeast in the mouth). Make sure your tell your surgeon about this

Talk 2 surgeon

Tonsils
Always talk to your surgeon about any complications & concerns that occur after your surgery/procedure. In fact, during your pre-op consultation, you should ask possible & common complications & concerns and what to do.

Dr. Dale Tylor answered:

How long should it take for the white coating to come off after tonsillectomy?

1-3 weeks

That coating is nothing to worry about, as gross as it can seem. It will slowly melt off over a 7-21 day period and then everything will look normal and pink again.
