No worry: It is not uncommon after a tonsillectomy, that children get a white coating on the tongue due to build up of dead cells on the surface from lack of friction from eating and mild dehydration. Push fluids, and when your child is eating normally again, it should resolve. Pharyngitis: Throat infections are quite common-even if you did have a tonsillectomy. Different viruses and bacteria can cause these symptoms.
