I quit smoking 6 months ago with the use of nicorette (nicotine gum). I've been off the nicorette (nicotine gum) for 3 wks. Why does my tongue burn and my teeth are very sensitive?

They were there before you started using nicotine, and will be there after you stop. Possible.: Swollen tissue indicates irritation and possible infection. Depending on how tender, swollen the uvula is, you might consider seeing your doc for a throat culture to rule out strep. I would so "no": Usually, 10 days is considered to be the outside time limit to detect nicotine after it has been ingested. However, the tests are very sensitive & depending on age & dose, cotinine (a nicotine metabolite) has been detected as long as 3 months after.
