I have had painless white stuff on back of tongue and swollen taste buds for a few months. I think it is thrush. Will gentian violet cure this?
See a doctor: You also asked about gential violet for vaginal yeast infection. See my reply to that question. Oral thrush is uncommon in otherwise healthy persons. "Painless white stuff" usually isn't yeast (thrush), just a garden variety "coated tongue", which can occur with colds and any number of minor health issues. Don't use GV, which isn't recommended for oral treatment. See a doctor for both problems. ...Read more
I have white stuff on back of my tongue, when I brush most of it comes off but then it rebuilds again during the day, is this normal?
Examination: To play it safe, get it looked at. A white coating on the tongue is fairly common and the bumps you see may be the normal presence of large taste buds. Some sort of brown stuff all over tongue with much more at the back. Can scrape off but more comesback. Large red lumps all over tongue. What is this?
Brown tongue: Is usually caused by plaque, staining, debris, bacteria especially in patients that smoke & drink lots of coffee. Red bumps are probably normal of more likely inflamed papillae (taste buds). Depends: Tonsil stones are little white stones visible in the tonsils (located on the lateral areas of your throat). People with tonsil stones feel like there is "something annoying" stuck in their throat and are constantly trying to clear it. A film on your tongue is not unusual. Most people need to brush or scrape their tongue regularly to clean this film away. ...Read more
I have had a cold complete with sore throat. I have big bumps on the back of my tongue with white stuff on my tongue. Is this normal for a cold?
It can be: The big bumps on the back of your tongue are probably your taste buds.
