Several possible: if any bleeding then inflammatory bowel disease would fit well--a serious autoimmune disease with a strong increased risk of needing surgery and/or cancer. Possible colitis: Go see your dr and be referred to a gastroenterologist for a stool test and possible coloscopy. Usually it's not serious. Colitis- general term for inflammation of the large intestinal wall, could be from inflammation, infection, auto-immune condition, etc. Colonoscopy will confirm the diagnosis. I often have much mucus(white/ yellowish brown jelly type)wth stool. Utmost rarely i'v seen traces of blood(with mucus)in stool.No pain.A lot of farting. Stool is very soft,unformd & brownish. 2-3 moves/day. No change in bowel habit. Blood HB Ok. CA?

Also make sure your diet is 'clean;' no fried foods, processed, dairy, wheat, sugars, sodas, desserts & other irritating foods. Should get evaulated: Being a 26 y/o female, it is likely that you have irritable bowel syndrome and with the frequent loose stools can cause significant anal/perianal irritation, at times bleeding from it. If you have been having symptoms for yrs, ibs is likley. If this is new, something else maybe causing your symptoms such as ulcerative colitis etc..I recommend consulting your doc for an eval. Good possiblity but: Mucus discharge occurs in up to 50% of patients with irritable bowel syndrome, with or without pain. Mucus may also be produced in response to partial obstruction, chronic constipation, rectal dysfunction, infection, ; even from secretory villous tumors of the rectum.
