Normal: The stool color is provided by the bile from the liver that is adds to fecal debris. It starts out a deep green & slowly changes thru greens to yellows to browns as the germs in the intestines metabolize the bile. Green generally means the stool in question moved through faster or was subject to less change by gut germs. ...Read more

Recommend you google stool color and look at images and see how you match up. ...Read more
My husband is just getting over the flu and said that he had a dark green stool with mucus. Would that have anything to do with the flu?
Depends: Influenza is a fairly acute illness most commonly in the colder months of the year with chills, fever, respiratory symptoms, and occasionally abdominal symptoms. Viral gastrointestinal illnesses are due to different types of non respiratory viruses and are associated with vomiting and diarrhea. Green stool with mucus can occur with either illness. Report to md if severe or persistent. ...Read more

I don't recommend it: If you are recovering from "stomach flu" and are starting to feel hungry again, no vomiting or diarrhea, it's fine to start adding solids to your diet, however I would take it easy af first. Try something bland, low in fat, and easy to digest (chicken noodle soup, crackers, toast etc) before trying anything oily, fried, or spicy! Your digestive system is recovering, you don't want to shock it! :) ...Read more

Go In Now:
Blood in the stool is a reason to get prompt medical evaluation.

Lightheadedness/almost passing out could represent blood loss, or more commonly significant dehydration. ...Read more

The stomach bug..: It is possible that you have the flu, but flu infection often causes pulmonary symptoms in adults, such coughing/wheezes etc. And more with gastrointestinal symptoms in younger children.
