Is there any way to get the white spots off your teeth after getting braces off?

Is there any way to get the white spots off your teeth after getting braces off?

Maybe: The jury is still out with regards to products that claim to re-calcify the enamel (i for one do not think it works well). If the decalcification is very shallow it can be polished out, but this means removal of surface enamel. Bleaching can help reduce the color changes, but only up to certain point, and of course restorative dentistry i.e. Bonding, veneering etc can correct the problem.

Why do I have white spots on teeth with braces?

Acid: Bacteria that isn't removed from teeth converts foods into acids which etch the tooth surface, the start of a cavity. Comes from insufficient levels of oral hygiene or from improper foods partially loosening braces. Ask your dentist to consider for restorations.

Why do I have white spots on my teeth? (without even getting braces, just normal teeth)

Why do I have white spots on my teeth? (without even getting braces, just normal teeth)

Refraction: Possibly from fluorosis, although municipal water supplies in areas where ther's too much Fluoride usually reduce Fluoride content to safe effective levels. Most probably because the enamel rods in your enamel are somewhat convoluted rather than being perfectly straight. This causes light to be refracted differently and gives appearance of white spots. See your dentist for rx.

Many methods to fix: Please don't be overwhelmed by what you see. While each case is different, it is often repaired easier than one would expect. Each tooth has to be evaluated individually. There are many methods including microabrasion, remineralizing pastes, bleaching, composite bonding, laminates, & combinations of all these methods. Were you going for routine checkups & did your orthodontist discuss your homecare?

How much would braces cost for my twelve year old daughter she has an over bite and brow spots on her teeth

How much would braces cost for my twelve year old daughter she has an over bite and brow spots on her teeth

I: I agree with the above posts. I always recommend to see two orthodontist because the treatment plan and costs will vary. Most orthodontist will provide a free consultation. You want to also think about the quality of care you or your child will receive. If you have dental insurance they may cover some and if not almost all orthodontist will have some type of payment plan.

Stain or Decay: Brown spots on the teeth are either stains or decayed area. Stains can be polished away of whitened. Decayed area can be taken care of either by placing a tooth color filling, bonding or veneer depending on the extend of the decayed area.

I've had white spots on teeth for aslong as I can remember, what is this?

Tooth spot: White spots on your permanent teeth can be of two causes-they can be hypocalcification (less than ideal tooth formation when it developed) due to childhood illnesses. Another reason could be a type of fluorosis usually associated with over fluoridation--such as drinking natural well water (ok/texas region). Ask your dentist about microabrasion or bleaching to fix this.

White spots on teeth: White spots on teeth are usually areas of the enamel that are hypo-calcification, or less calcified then the surrounding tooth structure. This may have happened when the tooth was forming or on the external enamel surface. External hypo-calcification from retention plaque bacteria around the gums, or even from improperly cleaning orthodontic brackets. It can be fixed with composite fillings.

What would cause white spots on teeth on a 13 months old baby?

What would cause white spots on teeth on a 13 months old baby?

Fluoride: Too much Fluoride ingestion either from the water or by prescription could cause white spots in the enamel. Another cause could be acidic plaque. If the white sports are closer to the gum they could be decalcified areas of enamel caused by persistent plaque accumulation. If the child is not getting his or her teeth brushed twice daily then that needs to change and use a minute amount of paste.

Would I get white spots after braces?

Would I get white spots after braces?

Only if...: Only if you don't follow instructions. White spots form from bacteria taking food debris, turning into acid, and the acid etches calcium out of the tooth enamel. If you keep your teeth spotlessly clean and don't eat foods that can dislodge your braces, you should be scar-free when your braces come off.

What is the probability of white spots after braces?

What is the probability of white spots after braces?

No spots w/good O.H.: The white spots are actually areas of decalcification in the enamel. The initial stages of a "cavity" that develop anywhere plaque has been allowed to accumulate for an extended time. As long as a patient practices excellent brushing and flossing, it is highly unlikely that any white spots (decalcification) will develop. In addition, it is beneficial to also limit sugar and starches in the diet.

I have white spots on the back of my teeth. What can I do to get rid of this?

I have white spots on the back of my teeth. What can I do to get rid of this?

Determine Cause: Are the white spots an intrinsic color of the enamel demineralized enamel, or calculus? Until we know what caused them, it is hard to advise you if they can easily be removed. A local dentist, however, can examine the teeth and let you know what treatment can be rendered. I doubt there is anything you personally can do to eradicate them.
