Prevent and treat: The key is clearance and prevention first ,as you noted. Benzamycin topical is good. Sometimes oral antibiotics are needed if severe. Once resolved without new areas, you will see more fading of discolored lesions. Ask your doc about hydroquinone topical fade cream (possible option).
