White Spots From Sun Exposure
Don't know : I cannot think of any particular white spots caused by birth control pills or sun exposure. Fungal infection spots don't tan and stay lighter than the surrounding skin, but they are not "benign" and need to be treated. You need to be seen to make sure there is nothing going on that needs to be treated.

Sun Spots: Sun spots are spots on the skin that occur after sun exposure. Sun spots can be dark or white. White spots can have several causes, and they all share one thing in common, they prevent melanin from being produced in that specific area of the skin, and therefore, cannot alter its pigment. After a few days of sun exposure i sustained several tan freckle like spots on both hands. I heard handling limes can also contribute, which i was.
Use sunblock: Limes can cause phytophotodermatitis, a form of allergy that is activated by the sun. Usually it develops as red, slightly blistery, itchy patches and streaks on the skin. Tan freckles on the backs of your hands are more likely to be caused from excessive sun exposure, although drops of lime juice might have contributed.

I have been previously sun burnt a few times on my back. Lately I have found small white spots on my shoulders. Any ideas what it could be? Dangerous?
A few possibilities: This is likely to be a benign, treatable condition- both tinea versicolor (a mild fungal infection) and vitiligo come to mind. A totally flat, hypopigmented lesion is relatively unlikely to represent skin cancer. See your pcp or dermatologist to confirm diagnosis and discuss treatment.
