Are white spots on your skin from sun exposure and birth control harmful?

Are white spots on your skin from sun exposure and birth control harmful?

Don't know : I cannot think of any particular white spots caused by birth control pills or sun exposure. Fungal infection spots don't tan and stay lighter than the surrounding skin, but they are not "benign" and need to be treated. You need to be seen to make sure there is nothing going on that needs to be treated.

Sun Spots: Sun spots are spots on the skin that occur after sun exposure. Sun spots can be dark or white. Is liver spots on the soles of feet a signal of a health condition. I have a lot and no sun exposure to my feet?

See below: Liver spots are not commonly seen on the soles of the feet and more likely simply moles. If you have noticed an increase of hyperpigmented/dark irregularly shaped spots on your feet i encourage you to see a dermatologist or foot specialist who may want to biopsy these spots.

After a few days of sun exposure i sustained several tan freckle like spots on both hands. I heard handling limes can also contribute, which i was.

Use sunblock: Limes can cause phytophotodermatitis, a form of allergy that is activated by the sun. Usually it develops as red, slightly blistery, itchy patches and streaks on the skin. Tan freckles on the backs of your hands are more likely to be caused from excessive sun exposure, although drops of lime juice might have contributed.

Need more info: The yellow spots need more clarification. If they are drusen, then you are very likely in the early stages of macular degeneration. See an ophthalmologist and consider starting prophylaxis with fish oil and eye vitamins.

Need to be examined: any time there is a change in a skin lesion it needs to be examined and maybe biopsy of it to rule out cancer. It is hard to tell without examination so go and see a skin doctor or your PCP

I have been previously sun burnt a few times on my back. Lately I have found small white spots on my shoulders. Any ideas what it could be? Dangerous?

A few possibilities: This is likely to be a benign, treatable condition- both tinea versicolor (a mild fungal infection) and vitiligo come to mind. A totally flat, hypopigmented lesion is relatively unlikely to represent skin cancer. See your pcp or dermatologist to confirm diagnosis and discuss treatment.
