The cause of this nuisance is unknown, but it is often considered harmless. Simple removal with a curette or oral irrigation is often adequate to get rid of them. If u r concerned/bothered by it, consult doc. Good luck. ...Read more

Take lots of fluids to drink and tylenol (acetaminophen) for pain.
But again you will have to give it some time to get better.

I have a super sore throat. I had a white spot on the back of my throat where my tonsil used to be. (I got a tonsillectomy a few years back) Now the area has swollen up into a painful lump. I have an earache as well.

Dr. Can check throat: New throat pain can be from a strep throat infection (antibiotics are needed), a cold or influenza (antibiotics usually not used), or from some other cause such as allergies or irritants. Usually, a person sees the doctor if the sore throat is "super sore", recurrent, or doesn't go away quickly (mainly to check for strep throat). Some throat lozenges and Tylenol (acetaminophen) or Motrin can decrease throat pain. ...Read more

Hard to say: As with any odd physical change with symptoms it's best to have an MD take a look. Gargle with warm salt water. Sleep with a humidifier to keep tissue hydrated. If smoking - please stop as that can cause tissue color changes and irritation.

I have had cobblestoning on my throats and a small, somewhat translucent white spot on my tonsil for the last year. I have HPV 16 and have for a long?

Probably unrelated: Presumably your HPV16 infection is genital, perhaps showing up on a pap smear, right? While it is possible your throat is also infected, HPV is not a likely cause of either "cobblestoning" of the throat or the white spot on one of your tonsils. The large majority of HPV infections, including HPV16, are eventually cleared by the immune system. Discuss all this with your doctor & follow her advice. ...Read more

Itch in one spot in my throat?

Doctor can look: A primary care doctor can look at a throat's itchy spot, if the spot is easy to see. If the spot is hard to see, then an ENT doctor can look at it with a fiberoptic camera or a mirror. Depending on one's age and risk factors, an itchy spot may just go away on its own after a few days, or it may be a sign of something more serious. Tobacco users, for example, are more likely to get cancer. ...Read more
