Probably bruise: Without a photo, I'll be guessing. I suspect a bruise of the upper eyelid may have occurred. Often painless and self limited, usually the result of running the eyelid. Other considerations would be a insect bite, vascular lesion, sty, nevus, dermatological condition to name a few. Have it checked: While many pigment spots on the eyelid or inner conjunctiva tissue can be benign or safe, some, just like changes anywhere on the skin, can be serious and need treatment. Best to have it examined by an eye MD & get some photos so the area can be compared over time if that's necessary too.
