White Sores In Nostril
Always have white hard bumps on septum with recurrent sores that are painful. Both nostrils, though left is worse. What could this be?
One of my nostrils continuously gets blocked with thin bloody sores which I have to pick to be breathe comfortably. How can I make the sores go away?
Be Seen!: You need a thorough physical exam by an ent. It might be something simple as a cellulitis or a complicated as an aggressive lymphoma which can cause destruction of the septum. Possibly: Nasal sores sounds like nasal colonization and infection with staphylococcus aureus. This could be methicillin sensitive mssa or methicillin resistant mrsa. A nasal culture would confirm the diagnosis and the exact organism. It could be treated with intranasal bactroban(mupirocin) ointment and hibiclens soap showers and shampoos. This : This is a common problem i see with patients who use a c-pap. The proper treatment depends a bit on the exact location and clinical observation so i would recommend you consult a dermatologist. Sometimes i recommend Hydrocortisone cream with a thin layer of zinc oxide paste over that to help reduce inflammation and irritation. Other cases, just a little bit of vaseline. Nasal obstruction: Greetings. Nasal blockage that comes on suddenly (as I suspect in your case) is usually a result of allergies or possibly a virus. Yes: Patients with acid reflux have a much higher incidence of nasal congestion and post nasal drainage than those who don't. Most patients with both reflux and these symptoms will improve on antacids. Putting saline into distal esophagus does nothing to nose but installing acid makes the nose congested so there is a relationship. Consider bid antacid trial for at least a month as test. ...Read more
