How do you treat a spider bite that has a red ring come up around it?

How do you treat a spider bite that has a red ring come up around it?

Observe act if need: Spider bites can often become infected. First I would recommend that you put tea tree oil or vinegar on it and keep the area clean. If the redness starts to fade then you can just watch it. If it grows larger then I would have it checked for possible need of antibiotics. If the spider was seen and you know it was not a brown recluse or black widow then just observe.

See a doctor!: Painful insect bites deserve attention because they can be infected - red, warm, tender. This is even more important with possible spider bites as the infection can lead to tissue necrosis. Please see a doctor ASAP. An ER visit may not be necessary. An urgent care center or virtual consult may suffice. You will likely receive an antibiotic, anti-inflammatories, and lots of reassurance. Good luck!

A day ago I found a large spider bite on my breast, there's a decent sized hole in the middle, surrounded by a purple ring, is that normal?

No: Need wound evaluation and culture of any fluid in hole. Could be MRSA and not a spider bite. Any urgent care can evaluate if you can't see your primary care provider in the next 24 hrs.

I have a white blister with a red ring and swelling around it on my right hand. I think it's a spider bite but didn't see a spider. Should I worry?

Lesion: Although you think it is a spider bite and on your hand it could be. Have you been in a basement, barn or some place dark when you could have been bit? One of the most common problems to be mistaken as a bite is a Staph abscess. Make sure you see your doctor.

Why do spider bites take so long to heal?

Normal healing rate: The real question is what not to do that slows down healing. Avoid using alcohol, peroxide, hibiclens, betadine, and bleach solutions. Inflammation (red, hot, swollen, tender) is important to healing so anti-inflammatories (motrin, advil) are bad. Cover the area with a clean dressing changed every other day and protected from trauma. Antibiotics do not help healing unless it is truly infected.

What can I do for a spider bite?

Let me help you: A bug bite isn't usually a reason to see your doctor, especially since it's often hard to determine if the bite was from a spider and what kind of spider. But if you believe you've been bitten by a black widow or brown recluse spider, or you start to experience severe pain or cramping in your abdomen or back after a spider bite, see your doctor promptly.
